Declare 2027 as Zimbabwe’s Year of Return for the Diaspora

Zimbabweans abroad are one of the country’s biggest economic contributors — not only through groceries and school fees, but through small businesses, construction, and job creation. It’s time to organize that contribution into a recognized national pathway.

Why this matters

The diaspora already supports Zimbabwe’s economy in a real way — and we can do more if we’re coordinated. Remittances are not just “family support.” They sustain small businesses, fund construction, enable farming projects, and keep local employment moving.

The point:

If we contribute like a major economic bloc, we should be recognized and organized like one — with clear pathways, reliable information, and a smoother landing for those ready to build at home.

What we’re asking for

  • Declare 2027 as the official Year of Return for Zimbabweans in the Diaspora.
  • Create a diaspora return framework aligned to skills + investment.
  • Make it easier to start businesses and hire locally (permits, banking, compliance).
  • Coordinate information: property, taxation, licensing, and practical setup support.

How the data will be used

We will present aggregated insights (e.g., skills, locations, return timelines) — not individual records — to support credible planning and a structured return program.
